This is a now better distributed hybrid selected by Robin White of the Blackthorn Nursery. This powerful hybrid forms a up to 45 cm high, but compact growing plant with very large and many flowers in extensive grapes. The amber-colored petals and long spurs show a dark orange gradient toward the center of the flower. Long flowering period, sometimes remontating. Very sturdy and nice.

A Barrenwort with very large flowers, discovered in 1994 in the Chinese province of Guizhou, where it occurs on Fanjingshan at 600 to 1200m altitude. It blooms as one of the first, with wonderful two-tone lavender-pink colored flowers of four to five centimeters in diameter. Wintergreen, leathery foliage, speckled with red when budding. Compact growth up to 30 cm high. Still rare.

A very beautiful, evergreen hybrid with attractively speckled foliage, which turns green in summer. Uniformly shaped, white to off-white flowers with darker, creamy throat and long white spurs from April to May. Clumpy growth up to 30 cm in height. Breeding of Keith Wiley.

This hybrid from Darrel Probst from the year 2004 impresses with its strong and abundant flowering as well as the compact and strong growth. The evergreen foliage is narrow arrow-shaped and captivates during sprouting and flowering by red bronze drawing. The inflorescences are up to 60 cm high. The long spurred, large single flowers are mostly white to light pink except for the flower center, which contrasts in a strong purple. Under optimal conditions, the plants will bloom during the summer over a long period.

This perennial is a cross between E. dolichostemon and E. leptorrhizum discovered by Elizabeth Strangman in the mid-1990s at the Washfield Nursery in Kent. The evergreen foliage is decorated with dark red spots in spring. Medium-sized flowers on long flower stems, the single flower is silver-gray-lavender, the flower center is purple overflowing. A very large-leaved and -flowered species from Hubei and Guizhou, there at 1250 m growing. Relatively compact growth, forming short spurs. Evergreen foliage, salmon pink shoots. Large, bright to dark yellow flowers with long spurs on up to 60 cm high inflorescences. The species was brought into culture in 1987 by Mikinori Ogisui as E. hunanense, this variety named in 1996 by William T. Stearn.

A violet-flowering form of the large-flowered species from Japan, which occurs there also so in the nature. It is 30 cm larger and stronger than other varieties. Light to dark purple, medium sized flowers on relatively large stems. It is the most flowering variety of this species in our country. It is much less common than the usual garden species. This is one of the smaller varieties of E. grandiflorum with max. 15 cm height. It grows slowly and remains very compact. Deciduous and acid soil loving. Medium sized, dark amethyst-colored flowers on short panicles, late flowering. They look more by a closer look, without long-distance effect, but still very charming.

A very beautiful variety from the Japanese province of Higo on Kyushu, whose leaves have a purple edge for weeks after the shoot and thus have a very decorative effect. Forms numerous stolons of 5 to 10 cm in length, making it more of a carpet. Large, pure white flowers with long and filigree spurs. A new introduction from China with very striking, initially still racemose inflorescences. The single flowers have pure white tepals and brightly lemon yellow, spurred petals that radiate widely. A still very rare, evergreen species from the Chinese provinces of Shaanxi and Guizhou. Compact growing from 40 to 60 cm height. Large, filigree flower clusters on long stems with a variety of small, 1 cm wide flowers. White petals with brownish petals, green pollen sacs. Very closely related to the strongly officinal epimedium sagittatum. Affects by the variety of small, white flowers, especially against a dark background. The german vname 'Blütentanz' means 'Flowerdance'.

A new variety introduced in 2012 by Plant-Delights-Nursery from the USA. One of the crossing partners is E. platypetalum. Forms a maximum of 15 cm high mats with small, evergreen leaves that have an attractive speckling in the spring. The dense mulch is covered with many bell-shaped flowers in a bright yellow. The flowering period is particularly long, it can sometimes last well into the summer. A hybrid with a great future.

Darrel Probst discovered this phenomenal species only in 2001 near Chongquing in Szetchuan. The foliage is large, long and spiked at the edges, sprouting with a few brown speckles. The flowers are very large with a color gradient from light to golden yellow up to the strong chocolate brown throat, very attractive. A special feature are the continuously branching inflorescences, which can reach over 2 m in height and remontate. Unique, with a great future.

A rare Epimedium with very many and small, creamy white flowers, which develop from dark purple buds, a very nice contrast. Light green, shiny foliage with small, dark red speckles. The lateral leaves act as if cut off at the base (Latin trunco = cut off). Hunan from 600 to 1000 m height. Clumpy growth up to 60 cm in height. Slowly growing.

A special form of the Wushan-Barrenwort collected by Mikinori Okisu. Elegant, long and narrow foliage that is attractively speckled when budding, evergreen. The inflorescence, which is well over one hundred individual flowers, is one of the largest among the epimediums, reaching heights of up to 80 cm. The flowers are quite large and have light yellow to caramel-colored spurs, which are purplish on the throat.
